Ironically Irony has an Ironic Sense of Humour... the Git...

Well, I'm massively struggling with a variety university projects, and yet, when I decided to have a break and finally get round to doing a character sketch for the webcomic I'm supposed to be doing, I suddenly find all that creativity haemmoraging onto the paper.

Yippee-kay-ay Mother Russia.

Now I just need to nail this project on an American state, the advertising for Heinz Beans using cowboys and finally my self-proposed brief of Lovecraft story cover illustrations...

Go team!

I should probably post some artwork...

But I won't.

Stick that in your tuba and smoke it!

~That offence to nature and science.

Current:

Song: Turisas - Five Hundred and One
Reading material: Junji Ito's 'Gyo'
Beverage of choice: Water... In a beaten old tankard.
Psuedo-regrets: Buying Westworld and the Tremors 'Attack Pack' boxset.

Gee whiz, mistuh!

Holy crap, two posts in about as many days? Like anyone really notices...

Well... I thought, seeing this -is- an art blog, I'd post some frapping artwork. Right here, right now.

Yeah.

Four projects from our Narrative Illustration unit.

HMV-type poster for the re-release of Alma Cogan's 'Twenty Tiny Fingers', needed to show characteristics of a young couple, men, women and babies. Also needed to be optimistic.

Illustration to accompany a Philip Larkin poem in a poetry book. The poem given was 'Old Fools' had to represent old age sensitively.

Square format image for a coffee table book aimed at well-educated 16-25 year olds, image needed to relate to the song 'Jollity Farm'

Another coffee table book, aimed at well-educated 10-15 year olds, in a circular format, representing the song 'Monster Mash'

Che Guevara, Ghandi and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man get into a lift.

It's not a joke, the cable broke and the mechanisms that all lifts have (despite what you see on TV and in the cinema) to prevent them falling had been sabotaged and they all plummeted to a horrible, messy (though somewhat tasty) death.

On a lighter note, orphans travelling on a bus in Transylvania, failed to make a turn on one of those windy, cliffside roads and plummeted to the canyon floor below before being engulfed in fiery explosion.

In related news, a small Wallachian provence had a recent famine broken by the appearence of a pre-cooked new meat appearing on the market.

On a more personal to myself level, I really should start being more involved with this place.

I was recently approached by someone from my hometown (via Facebook), asking if I was interested in doing artwork for a webcomic project he was doing with a friend, as he'd been given my name as a suggestion by a mutual friend. I've agreed, and was sent the backstory and character description by the two writers and am currently sat, staring at possibly the most intimidating, A4 sketchbook page of my life so far, trying to come up with some designs for the main character from the description of him.

Well, that's about it for the massive developments in my life lately. Now I work on this as much as I can before ideas run dry, boredom takes over or my course starts again and I have a shit-ton of work. (Dreading the feedback on my piss-poor performance in my coursework from before Christmas)

Oh well, peace, love and understanding to you all, and if you can't grasp that, then I hope you die a horrible death.

Another update within a week of the last? Gasp!

In the words of a very wise man, 'Laugh it up, fuzzball!'

Still lots of uni work to be doing, as well as a room and kitchen to tidy before inspection and parental visitation. Oh joy.

Done a couple of pics I'm reasonably pleased with lately. One's a llama in the style of Discworld artist Paul Kidby (that looks a little like Owen Wilson to me) and the other, which I shall present to thee, drawn on shite paper almost entirely in HB mechanical pencil is a scandinavian troll in a cave for a uni project involving the defacing of books... something that I, as someone with some very OCD habits, find very difficult to even try...

Oh well...

Here is the troll. Enjoy!

Well... Time I think, for an update...

Been uber busy with university projects of late, and have been lacking an actual internet connection (much anger and slaughtering of lambs on my part). Very little work to actually show because I'm a lazy bastard and have probably spent more time attempting to draw Lovebeast (a small project for a mate), do some developments of my Jesterface and Corvid characters, read comics and Marvel Super Heroes roleplay rules, sleep, eat, drink, try not to spend money and listening to Turisas etc etc than anything else.

Guess I should get on with trying to draw a llama like I was Paul Kidby...

On a related note, I've drunk 2litres of Morrisons' Iron Brew in 5hrs and not been to the toilet once... My bladder is the size of Bournemouth...

Old pencil sketch of my Anubis character.

Sunday 23 December 2007

Well, suppose I should blog something.

I'm fairly new to blogging, only had a Deviantart journal before now...

Well... welcome to the madhouse... I'll be posting what I've been doing when I can so for now I'll post a fairly old pic that I'm quite proud of, despite some glaringly obvious anatomy errors and generally shoddy colouring...

Thanks for stopping by.

~Johnny

This is Corvid.
